WhatMatters

During the May-June 2007 controversy surrounding the School Board majority vote not to renew the current Superintendent's contract, a steady stream of disinformation and personal attacks was aimed at the five Board members who voted not to renew the contract. These Board members were accused of secret meetings, personal agendas and violation of Board procedures and State Law.

To date, zero evidence has been presented to support these accusations has been presented, either by the community or by any of the Board members who voted against seeking a new superintendent.

However, there is evidence that the board members in the minority on the vote were less than transparent with the public and their fellow elected officials, and spread disinformation throughout the community without producing any concrete data or evidence.

The open letters, addressed to Board members Eileen Rivera and Sheryl Gorsuch, request they either produce proof of their colleagues' wrong-doing, or write in the local press that there were no secret meetings and no laws were broken.

The open letters contain facts gathered from FOIA materials, newspaper articles and ACPS Board videos.

Both letters were emailed to Ms. Rivera and Ms. Gorsuch 7/21/2007, several days before posting them to this site.

No response has been received from either Board member.

If our elected officials are unwilling to correct the disinformation, they will leave innuendo and rumor festering in the community and demonstrate an unwillingness to move forward for the good of ACPS.
